Here is how our conversation went this afternoon as we walked to the park.
Matthew: Look, Mommy. A bug!
Mommy: Yeah, it's a fly, Matthew.
Matthew: Oh! Me yike hies. (I like flies.)
(pause)
Matthew: YOU yike hies, Mommy?
Mommy: No....
Matthew: Daddy yike hies?
Mommy: No...
Matthew: (spreading out his arms wide) ANYbody yike hies??
Mommy then proceeds to explain to Matthew the pesky behavior of hies (that's FLIES for the layperson).
