Happy 6th Birthday, Matthew

The long anticipated day finally came...Matthew's 6th birthday!  Since his birthday fell on a Tuesday, we had a celebration with his friends on the Sunday afternoon before his birthday.  It was a beautiful day, just perfect to be outside.  We held it at Reedville Creek Park.

Dan, helping the kids play "What Time Is It, Mr. Wolf?", a variation of "Red Light, Green Light."  It was a hoot!

The aftermath

Our big six-year-old boy!  He chose a store-bought Star Wars cake this year.  Needless to say, this mama was sort of glad to get out of cake-making duty this year!

This light-saber shaped present may or may not have held a light saber inside...

On Tuesday, Matthew's birthday, it was another beautiful day.  We went to the zoo with my mom during the day.
Matthew woke up to his door decorated.  A tradition we started last year.  He even remembered the night before and asked me about it.  Good thing it was in the works!

Pancakes for the birthday boy.

Claire gave her big brother a very special birthday gift at breakfast: a voluntary kiss on the lips (More special than you might think!)

On the zoo train with Grandma.  Thanks for the ride, Grandma!

I like this one with their two heads together. =)

That evening, my parents came over for dinner (meatloaf: Matthew's request) and cupcakes.

My favorite six-year-old!
Dan and I are so thankful for the boy God has placed in our family.  He is tender-hearted toward the Lord, thoughtful, a gentle big brother, eager to learn, a joy to be around, and full of boyishness!  We can't wait to see what this next year holds for our big boy!
