We celebrated with some of his little friends on Saturday, the day before his birthday. We went to Out of This World Pizza and Play, a big indoor playground with lots of slides, that has an outer space theme. What could be better for our little space-lover?
The guys:
Our friend Ron, holding my friend Shayna's little guy:

Most of the gang:
I made Matthew a planets cake:. The planets are made out of fondant. It was a lot of fun to make! Per Matthew's request, Pluto is at the end of the line-up of planets, even though it isn't technically a planet anymore. :0
Opening presents:
Yep, a new Star Wars figure!
A special present from Ron: a Harley Davidson model motorcycle:
Sunday (Mother's Day!) was his actual birthday. We put streamers up on his bedroom door to surprise him when he woke up. (Thanks for the idea, Kathy K.!)
His first present of the day was a special one from Mommy and Daddy.
His first real Bible!
It's an ESV "Seek and Find" Bible. It's for ages 5-9 and has 130 pull-out stories with full-page beautiful color illustrations. We highly recommend it!
He also opened a book from my sister's family. It a kid's book on countries all over the world. We will use it when we pray for countries each night after dinner. Thank you, Meads!
Enjoying his birthday sundae:
It was Mother's Day, so I had to get a picture with my two munchkins!
Sunday evening, we went to Dan's parents to celebrate Matthew's birthday and Mother's Day. This is a present from my Aunt Carol. We can't wait to try it!
Matthew got a suit of armor from Grandma and Grandpa Hickman. He was so excited!
Showing Grandpa his new Air Force One jet:
And finally...from Mommy and Daddy...his first toy gun! We got him an army one to promote the good guys. :)
Then it was round two of the birthday cake. Doesn't look quite as pretty this time...
Trying out his armor the next day:
Wait, who's this?! She's not the birthday girl! But she's so darn cute, she slipped her way into this blog!
