Through it all, we are enjoying our little boy as much as ever. Here are a few pictures of recent activities:
We are very proud of Matthew in this picture. It is his first ever award he has won! He was awarded this certificate at the end of the summer for participating in the summer reading program at our local library. Since Matthew likes to read so much, it was no problem filling out the little list they provided on the handout. There were only 30 blanks on the sheet for the whole summer, and we basically filled it out in two days. =) He is such a reader! Well, he doesn't exactly read yet, but he loves cuddling up to Mama or Papa and having us read to him stacks of books at at time. Some of his favorites right now include Richard Scarry books, Curious George, any books about fire trucks and his Beginner's Bible (especially the story of David and Goliath).
Here is Matthew enjoying the last summer sunshine out next to our driveway.
Some friends from church gave us their old sandbox. You can't tell from this picture, but it is in the shape of a dump truck, which of course, Matthew was really disappointed about. ;) We haven't had much opportunity to play in it since the summer is pretty much over, but he loves it so far! (Excuse our ghetto grass...this is in the far corner of our yard behind our house which we kinda neglect. The rest of it is pretty, honest!)
On Friday, Mama and Matthew made cookies for the first time! Matthew was a very good helper.

Matthew is such a cutie. He looks so proud of himself with his award! I can't wait to get a sandbox for Brady - probably a project for next summer. Let's hope he likes playing with the sand and not eating it!
Thanks for sharing your lives' activities and the wonderful pictures of Matthew. He looks so happy making cookies. Did he like to eat them too? And his legs look like he is growing where he is sitting out in front. I am thrilled he loves books so much. What you have begun at even an early age will only continue as he matures. Keep up the good work parenting!
Love, Aunt Carol
